Right under the nose of the international community

Right under the nose of the international community

Congolese cartoonist Thembo Kash talks about how mangoes symbolize conflict zone minerals, like coltan and cassiterite – minerals that Rwanda has been accused of stealing from the DRC.

This is the second of six cartoons that Kash is unveiling exclusively for Waza. The independent artist living in Kinshasa had created them for a daily newspaper close to the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, but they were, as the artist puts it, “refused for reasons you can divine”. His work is frequently seen in the DRC newspaper Le Potentiel.
