Simone Gbagbo will not be transferred to The Hague, according to a 20 September statement by the Ivorian government.

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, has accused Mrs. Gbagbo of involvement in the post-election violence of 2010-2011. Her husband, former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo, is in detention in The Hague. He has been charged with four counts of crimes against humanity. The government has decided to keep Mrs. Gbagbo on Ivorian soil, claiming that the right conditions for a fair trial there have been met.
